Our Story

As we all face a variety of life events, we often find that the most difficult ones cause us to look harder at ourselves and our purpose and focus in life. Fill Your Cup is the result of doing just that.

In August, 2002, Kristi and her husband, Rich faced one of the most frightening events that one could think to face. On the day before the start of elementary school for their children, which was to be the first day of our youngest daughter’s entry into kindergarten, Rich’s doctor called to request an immediate appointment with Rich and Kristi. The next day would hold more change than they had planned for their daughter’s first day of kindergarten.

After hugs, kisses and photos while dropping off at kindergarten, they rushed to the doctor’s office to hear what awaited them. Every minute seemed an eternity. The news was every bit as bad as it could have been: Rich had a brain tumor. This news kicked off a flurry of medical consultations, testing and decision making. Within a few days, surgery was scheduled and completed and a final diagnosis lay ahead.

It took another long round of consultations sorting through the various possible diagnoses to determine the accurate one – it was an Anaplastic Astrocytoma, Grade 3: not the tumor of choice. They moved ahead towards obtaining a treatment plan to attack the remaining tumor.

Through the course of 6 weeks of daily radiation and two years of chemotherapy cycles, a lot of change occurred in the Lewis family. Old priorities went away and new priorities emerged. Life was examined completely. The desire to reach out and share with other people became an enormous priority: how many others were hurting and needed support? Out of these experiences, the desire to create a business oriented towards helping people in their everyday life was born.

As a result, Fill Your Cup exists today not just because we like a good cup of coffee, but because by making a great cup of coffee, we have the ability to touch people’s lives and help them in their daily journey. We are all here for a purpose and if we aren’t fulfilling that, what are we fulfilling? By filling your cup, we would like to help you fulfill your purpose and walk in peace and joy. We appreciate you offering us the opportunity to Fill Your Cup!
